The Global Anti-Scam Alliance’s (GASA’s) The State of Scams in Southeast Asia report, co-sponsored by BioCatch, highlights the latest fraud trends in the region as reported by 6,000 Southeast Asian consumers.

In this report, you’ll discover:

  • Widespread Impact: 63% of Southeast Asian adults surveyed reported receiving scam outreach in the past 12 months, while 22% of those surveyed reported losing money to a scam.

  • Investment scams rampant: The most common scam type reported by those surveyed, investment scams accounted for 63% of all cases reported to GASA.

  • Scammers prefer digital: Bad actors most commonly stole funds via bank transfers (48%) and digital wallets (36%).

  • Recovery a long shot: While 73% of victims reported scams to authorities, only 22% recouped any of their losses.
